Increasing Participation in Quality Early Care and Education

Inquire about the availability of documents in alternate formats.

First 5 Sacramento Commission’s goal is to increase the participation in quality early care and education. The following three years (2007-2010) will focus on increasing workforce development in the early care and education field.

This approach will provide children with many positive outcomes, including cognitive development and readiness for kindergarten. Parents and caregivers will receive information allowing them to make informed choices about both the availability and the quality of the care that they select for their children.

Child care providers will have an opportunity to participate in the (Comprehensive Approaches to Raising Education Standards) CARES program, an education incentive program for child care providers who are continuing their education.

What is First 5 Sacramento Doing About Increasing Participation in Quality Early Care and Education?

First 5 Sacramento partnered with Child Action, Inc. to provide a comprehensive, integrated infrastructure of support to the Sacramento child care community through the Quality Child Care Collaborative (QCCC), a partnership of community organizations, educational institutions and government service agencies. QCCC will promote the development and retention of a professional early learning workforce and improve and enhance the quality of child care services available to Sacramento families. Programs also provide quality childcare training for parents of children ages zero to five and services to children with special needs.
