Crisis Intervention Services and Safe/Emergency Child Care RFA

The First 5 Sacramento Commission recognizes the importance of emergency support services as part of the continuum of care for young children and their families. Providing access to safe/emergency childcare to families when the potential for abuse exists is also of great importance. Both of these strategies typically prevent the need for Child Protective Services Interventions and/or out of home placements for young children when their families are in crisis and other supports are limited or not available. For this reason the Commission added this specific goal: All children are in an environment conducive to their development.

The RFA releases $9,500,000 to fund projects and programs in the areas of Crisis Intervention Services and Safe/Emergency Childcare from 2010-2015. Projects that will be funded by the Commission under this RFA must demonstrate how the proposed activities will effectively provide crisis intervention services and increase families’ access to safe/emergency childcare in accordance with the outlined strategies.

Funding Timeframe

The funding will be implemented through the 2010 to 2015 funding cycle beginning July 1, 2010, for a three year term with a possible two year extension upon review.
