Breastfeeding Support Services RFP

The First 5 Sacramento Commission recognizes the impact of breastfeeding on early child health, development and attachment and how this benefits both the child and the mother/family. For this reason the Commission added this specific and targeted result area: Increase prevalence and duration of breastfeeding.

The RFP releases $5,500,000 to fund projects and programs in the areas of Breastfeeding Support Services from 2010-2015. Projects that will be funded by the Commission under this RFP must demonstrate how the proposed activities will effectively increase the prevalence and duration of breastfeeding in accordance with the outlined strategies.

Funding Timeframe
The funding will be implemented through the 2010 to 2015 funding cycle beginning July 1, 2010, for a three year term with a possible two year extension upon review.

RFP Release: Thursday, September 4, 2009
Mandatory Conference: Tuesday, September 15, 2009 from 9:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. at First 5 Sacramento
RFP Submission Deadline: Tuesday, October 13, 2009 at 5:00 p.m.
RFP Posting of Intent to Award: Week of December 7, 2009
